Can't Find Disinfecting Wipes?

by Ashley Zee on April 16, 2020

Did you know that you can make your own disinfecting wipes with the Ultimate Cloth?  Not only is it easy, but THEY ARE REUSABLE!  If you have a few cloths hanging around, it's quite easy.  Remember, our cloths do not fray, therefore you can cut them!

What you need:

Airtight Container
Classic Ultimate Cloths (either Classic BadBoys or  Classic Standards)
Rubbing Alcohol (70% or higher Isopropyl Alcohol)
Essential Oils (optional)
Scissors

Step 1:

Cut BadBoy into 6 equal rectangles.  If you fold the cloth in thirds and then in half you will have a nice guideline:

If you only have standards on hand, cut them in 4's.

Step 2:

Pour approx. one cup of rubbing alcohol into your airtight container.  I used an empty dishwasher tab container as I like the flip top for easy access.

OPTIONAL:  If you happen to have any essential oils, add to the rubbing alcohol.  I had lavender so I added 10 drops.

Step 3:

Add cut up cloths

Step 4:

Push cloths down in the container to soak up the liquid

Close the lid and you are done!

When you have used one, give it a wash with dish soap, hang it to dry and then add it back into your container.  Reuse them over and over again and never run out of disinfecting wipes!

Should also work to sub hydrogen peroxide 3% for the rubbing alcohol. I don’t know how it would react with essential oils but the oils really aren’t needed.

Wow! You are a genius – I’ve been looking for an easy way to make my own but could only find “recipes” that required odd products not readily available. THANK YOU so much!

Awesome environmentally friendly idea. I too had problems locating alcohol, suggest searching medical supply outlets, I purchased a 4 Litre bottle of 99% Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol and now make my own wipes and hand sanitizer with ingredients I ordered online through Walmart, recipe in link following: (file:///C:/Users/Home/Desktop/Covid%20Govt%20Links%20Notes/how%20to%20make%20sanitizer%20ptp%20ab.pdf)

Good idea. For on-the-go disinfecting wipes, slip a few moist towels into a flip-top Dentyne gum container with a screw on top. Fits easily into a purse and you can easily pull one out of the flip top when needed.

LOVE this idea! I have cloths that I no longer use and now have a “new” use for them! I also have a bad boy that will be utilized for this as well! 😍
I’m quickly running out of Lysol wipes and will reuse the container for this wonderful tip! THANK YOU!

Thanks for all the comments!

TIP – If you have a Walmart close by, they might have rubbing alcohol. The one here is Burlington has it, but it’s a limit of one per person. Which is fine as a big bottle goes a long way. Like I can make about 6 containers with it. Also, Spray Nine is approved to kill Covid-19. I have some, but I don’t love the “feel” of it as it’s a bit soapy feeling.

Thanks! I just made some! Super easy, thanks so much :) I didn’t have a container like the one pictured so I put them in a large mason jar. I can fit 2 cloths cut up in a big jar. I thought about poking a hole in the lid but I’m sure the alcohol would evaporate. Which is probably why you recommend an air tight container. So, noted. I have a few more jars so just ordered a ten pack of bad boys so I can have a jar in my car and my husbands car.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I think that this is a very good idea.
I have lots of cloths that I don’t use anymore because I always buy new ones if my old ones get a little worn
Just another way of using them. Thanks

Fantastic I’m going to do the same. Currently rubbing alcohol very difficult to find

What a great idea! I bought a bunch of your cloths on sale a few months ago and now they will REALLY come in handy! I can’t get any alcohol but I do have a large jug of Lysol orange scented disinfecting spray. Works perfect. Going to make one for my son also. Thanks for the tip!
